Default New Laptop

So since i am moving into my own home and have to start to pay for things like hydro i want to limit the draw on my bill by ditching my power hungry tower and go to a laptop. (i won't have much time for gaming anymore anyway) Here is the criteria.

1. Must be around $1000 or less (pre tax)
2. Draw as little amount of power
3. Minimum 500GB internal storage
4. Run the following software adequately (Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Lightroom 3, Magix Movie make Pro 17, Some light gaming if the mood suits me)

I am looking predominately at Lenovo and HP. I have had ASUS laptops in the past and they have left a bad taste so don't bother suggesting them. One model i am looking at is the Lenovo Ideapad Y560 as there's currently a $180 off coupon on lenovo's site.

Also i will be connecting it to my 27" LCD (2560x1440) (it has every connection know to man so connectivity won't be an issue)

Thanks for the input.

I have a Y570 with the i5, 8Gb of Ram and I love it. I also replaced the 500Gb HDD with a 80 Gb SSD, and added a 80Gb mSata Intel SSD. It's a real fast lappy. Highly recommended.

Thanks. Now what to do. Both the y570 and T420i are on sale.

Y570 Around $900
T420i Around $876

The biggest differences are the stock ram and graphics card

Y570 - 6GB DDR3, Nvidia Geforce GT555M
T420i - 2GB DDR3, Nvidia Quadro NVS4200M

I checked NCIX site and the 4GB Upgrade modules from lenovo for DDR3 1333 Mhz are around 55 bucks each so 2x would be around 110 and give me 8GB. Both were configured with default warranties. T420 has the 9 cell batt though. Not sure.

I'm pretty sure you can use other 4GB SODIMMS other than from Lenovo.
