Default My sister dropped her laptop...

My sister has been bugging me to fix her computer. She dropped it the other day and now it will only boot into recovery mode. However there seems to be no way to recover without loss of data. So I'm assuming that the hard drive was damaged upon impact. Is all of her data gone? Should I try to plug her drive into my system? So maybe I can recover the files? If anybody has had experience with this just let me know what to do. I would hate for her to lose all her music and documents.

You already know what you've got to do. Yank the drive, see if you can get the files off it through another computer. If the drive is damaged physically though, then you're pretty much SOL.

If the drive still physically works you cna try a data recovery program. If it's physically damaged, the only way to really get data from it is to send it off to a data recovery place which takes it apart in a clean room and all that stuff. That costs a STUPID amount of money thought. ($1000+)

It should still work, I don't see why not. I would just have to format it. Recommend any software?

I think people here use a program called Recuva, which is free.

Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

I personally use a different program, but it's "paid for".
