Default Thinkpad Edge $100 off. Good deal ?

Lenovo: ThinkPad Edge 14” or 15” Laptop w/Core i3-2310M $449, Core i5-2410M $499 (Ends Today!) - Posted Jul. 12, 2011 - RedFlagDeals.com

This deal looks good to me. 14" and 15" both $450 with 2nd gen sandy bridge core i3. $50 more upgrades it to an i5.

still a POS, you're going to get what you pay for.

definitely no games, or very light ones.

Just purchased. E420 w/ 2410 for $499. Can't beat the performance/dollar.

EDIT: @ THS, I got this lappy because you CANNOT get these similiar spec for $500. Also, it should be reliable as it IS a Thinkpad.

I bet you the construction, even for lenovo is kinda crap, the screen is small and the resolution is icky too.. sooo.. yeah.

mostly my preference though, but it you're looking for a cheap simple machine to do such tasks it's probably perfect.

I see they've brought back the matte screen option for the Edge. Nice!

Definitely not. I'm not sure why someone would think a laptop is a POS because it can't play games. I had a Lenovo U450p a year and a half ago for school. Low-voltage, low-MHz CPU and Intel 4500MHD integrated GPU. It was purchased for the small-form factor, weight, battery life, etc. It was meant to be a mobile school/multimedia machine and it worked great because that's what it was intended for. Why would I want to hull around a large, heavy, loud, etc. gaming laptop for that purpose?

By the way, from a pure ergonomic and user-input point-of-view, I've always found Lenovo to be a cut above the rest. Even the Vaio Z I owned for awhile didn't feel as good as my U450p and other Lenovo machines I have tried.

I didn't say that I thought the laptop was a POS becaise it doesn't play games, I just find the constuction of the really cheapo laptops to be shoddy, and the general quality of the trackpad, keyboard, and screens to be not very good. I'd rather pony up an extra $150 or so and get a nice resolution screen and etc. if I'm going to be staring at it for the next four years. a u460p is $650, I'm not sure you can compare that :P
