Default Oldest Laptop in Service

What is the oldest laptop that you still use regularly?

My IBM Thinkpad X40 is in my backpack every day at school and it's soon celebrating it's 7th birthday. It has 1.4Ghz Pentium M LV 738 CPU which is 90nm and I often run it locked at 600mhz for battery life. It has a 4GB 300x SLC Compact Flash card as the Windows XP boot drive so I think that helps to make things bearable. The screen sucks, performance is often very slow but the keyboard and durability make up for it, at least for how much it cost.

Folding is the thing that is keeping me from spending money on a new laptop because I don't really need more mobile performance and folding is a better place to spend money on hardware.

We have a laptop in the house used regularly that is 4 years old, so not too old at all.

My 8yr old 3G P4 Compaq Presario R3000 (Dedicated ATI 9200 gfx) is still running fine, but has just been replaced with something newer. Only repair it's required was a HDD, and only real upgrade was bumping it to 1G memory vice the 512 it shipped with.

My oldest seems pretty new in comparison hahaha

My laptop is almost 3 years old, has a core2duo T5750 @2.00GGhz, 3GB of RAM and a Radeon HD 2600 GPU. Battery life sucks in my opinion (3 hours at most) but performance is pretty good. Unfortunately, it has Vista.........

My dad still has a 4 year old HP that he uses daily.

My oldest is a netbook I bought in 2008. 9inch acer aspire one with an Atom N260, 8gb flash memory and 1.5 gb of RAM that I added myself. Runs Linux.

I had one of those too! Though mine was only 2.4GHz and I think ATI 9100? Or 9000? Something a tad lower.

HDD died after a week of use, returned and got another. Lasted for quite a few years and the HDD died again and replaced it myself. AFAIK it's still running fine but I sold it off.

It was a boat anchor though. Definitely not portable.

I actually had 2 old IBM ThinkPads. One was a Pentium 266MHz. Still worked too actually. Other was a PII 400MHz. I since trashed them though.

Yeah, it was more of a desktop replacement rather than a laptop. At the best of times I think it was about 2 1/2 hrs worth of use on battery. :)

Cost me about $3200 after tax/insurance in 2002/2003.

I have a 12-13 year old laptop with a AMD K6-2 300 Mhz CPU, 160mb ram and it is running DSL (Dam small linux). It still works great and I use it when I need something to hook up to a router or something. Fun thing is, it is called a "Netbook" and I bought it at Attic computers back in the day (it was their inhouse brand).

my "old" lappy is a 3 year old Gateway. AMD turion x2 2.0ghz, ATI x1270, 3gb ram, 14.1" screen... came with vista and has started to slow down to a crawl. Reformatted it with win7 last month, works a lot better now. Currently using it as an HTPC as it has an HDMI port which is nice. Was my only comp for first 2 years of software engineering degree, now I have a replacement as you can see in my specs
