what laptop do you own?

okay, so here's the first 'official' thread posted in the Mobile Computing forum! tell us what laptop(s) you have. I know I can't list ALL the manufacturer's, so I've listed what I think are the top 10 common brands. also, feel free to post and share the specs of your particular book, if you feel like boasting. :punk:

edit - mine was the Futureshop $799 Acer 5920G special they had to weeks ago. my signature should state it`s specs.

I have an older Acer and a newer Toshiba ...

hmmm...I wonder if I did something wrong with the poll, being it currently shows 140%...whereas it should only ever be 100% :shok:

Hypersonic Aviator CX-7. It's got a 2.26 GHz Pentium M, and a Go 7800 GTX graphics card. It was a nice gaming unit, even if the battery life is considerably less than a hour under load. Less than two months after I got it, they came out with the Core processors and the Go 7900 series...

Also got a smaller laptop from my local computer ship, a rebadged HP laptop I think. At the time, I splurged and got the Pentium M chip (instead of the P4) and 512KB of RAM!

The poll is mis-counting something. At this moment, it says 5 voters, but there are 7 tally marks.

You can select multiple options when voting ... For example, I selected Acer and Toshiba.

I'm running a 5 year old compaq 3.2G P4 (non HT) w/ 512 meg memory and a 64 meg (dedicated memory) mobile radeon 9200.

Paid over 3 grand when this puppy was new as it was considered a desktop replacement at the time..... :)

Weighs a ton, runs super hot, and battery life is only around 1 hour.....

The P4s were never designed for laptop use... I have 4: an old Compaq with a Celly (also never designed for Lappy use), a very, very old IBM, my gf's Toshiba and my Dell Inspiron 6400.

I've got an "Other," and Alienware laptop.

Hehehe, sounds like mine. Though mine is only 2.4GHz and only a Radeon 9000. Didn't cost me $3k either, it was around the $1500 mark. Still weights a ton, runs hot, and my battery life is less than an hour now since the wear on it its like 60% or something. Holds like 25kW max instead of the rated 65kW or something like that.
