Quick Update!!

Android 2.2 Froyo now available for the HTC Desire via a Telus update! Many new and improved features, as well as performance and battery life!

Just go to Settings -> About Phone -> System Software Updates and manually check for updates.

I highly recommend doing this over the WiFi's!

Enjoy!

Oh wow, now maybe I'll just go and grab it instead of waiting for the next phone...

Bell Mobility - HTC Desire Z

If I didn't have my nexus, I would get this one.
Try to get your phone, whatever it might be from futureshop, best buy or wireless wave. You can bargain with them real nice and get a way better deal for your contract than in a telus or bell store.

You MIGHT wanna wait for November 8, when it is 'rumored' to have the press release of what is 'rumored' to be called the 'Nexus S'. The Nexus S is said to be the new Google phone, this time being manufactured by Samsung, while its predecessor, the Nexus One was manufactured by HTC. It is supposed to be a souped up Galaxy S i9000 with like two cameras MINUS the plasticky feel.

Yeah saw that last night in the Best Buy flyer. Rather tempting.

Apparently this rumour was shot down?

That is certainly not the case here. With Rogers at least if you want the best deal you need to get a hold of the customer relations people at Rogers. The rest just offer you the standard plans.

Well, I went to a wireless wave and asked there what they can do to convince me to switch to bell for a 3 year contract. The first wireless wave I went to made me a nice deal: student plan, fab ten and such, even though I am not a student ;-)
Anyway, after bargaining for a bit, I took this offer with me on paper and went to another wireless wave (same mall, very convenient) and asked an eager looking sales person to improve upon the deal from the other store. And he did ;-)

The Bell, Rogers or whatever provider stores won't do that, has to be independent retail like futureshop or wireless wave.

That nexus two seems unlikely at this point, since that device would have to be a significant step up on the hardware side.

The rumour getting shot down was a mis translation from a korean site. It is still said to be true, and reliable sources are expecting the press release on the 8th.
