Default NVIDIA Optimus Technology Review Comment Thread

Quote:
Battery life has always been paramount in both netbooks and laptops but lengthening it usually comes at the expense of performance. NVIDIA claims their new Optimus technology offers the best of both worlds by seamlessly switching between an on-board dedicated graphics chip and an IGP. Does it work as well as NVIDIA wants us to believe? We find out in this review.

I would encourage folks to hop over to the Youtube page and leave a comment there as well, heck even a copy paste wouldn't hurt

Otherwise here is the thread for question...comments...recipes?

Hmm recipes?

Lets see, here is one for Apple Tort. Very good IMHO.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • FILLING:
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • TOPPING:
  • 3 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Combine the first four ingredients. Press onto the bottom of an ungreased 9-in. springform pan. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Pour over the crust. Combine topping ingredients; spoon over filling. Bake at 350 degrees F for 55-65 minutes or until the center is set. Cool on a wire rack. Store in the refrigerator. Cut into wedges with a serrated knife.

Ok enough of that, I do have a question. Does anyone know when these notebooks are going to be available? I can't even find it on the Asus site or for sale anywhere.

Here is another question, that little app that showed whether or not it was under the integrated or the discreet, is that something included with the notebook or was it some special tool you guys have.

I don't believe it will be featured on retail notebooks unfortunately. Whether or not it can be downloaded separately I do not know, but will ask.

It would be nice if they integrated one into the NVIDIA control panel, so you got a little green light on the task bar or something when the discrete card was on.

That really shouldn't be a problem. I mean they come loaded with Win 7 and why would anyone want to go back to XP?

P.S. You shouldn't be double posting, edit your post if you need to add more before anyone else has come along. Thanks.
