I just ordered the Buy Acer [LX.PKQ02.021] Acer Aspire 4810TZ-4982 Intel SU4100 3GB 250GB 14IN BT Win 7 Home Premium Olympic Edition Notebook...

Based off multiple reviews, it seems like a great unit. Bought it off Direct Canada (cheaper than NCIX) and has got free ground shipping. I'd love to give you my impressions but I don't think I'll get it in time...

Yes.....that is what YOU want....but have you asked what SHE wants?

I think that a Netbook would be perfect for your mother still. They are getting bigger ( sadly ) and you should be able to find a decent one.

my mom is already using my 1000h (now i need it soon) and she loves it but i believe netbook is still below the laptop's level... thats why i need good quality video and audio...

you might be mistake because i dont see any bigger than 12" netbook...

No problem, I'll be more than happy to. Canada Post says I'll be getting it on April 8th at the latest.

15" and 17" are a pain to carry around, even if it's just once in awhile.

The 4810tz is a great little unit. Light, long battery life, good screen. I think your mom would love it.

oddly.. it has weak premium core and is lasting for eight hours battery life.... hmmm...

but... how good quality of video and audio is?

btw... i found reasonable price (13" compare 14" above) at Acer Aspire AS3810TZ-4190 Intel SU2700 3GB 320GB 13.3IN HD Windows 7 Home Notebook - DirectCanada ... it lasts 9 hours... 0_0

That CPU is very low power and it's GMA 4500 graphics. Personally I am not a big fan of Acer. If that's the way you want to go I would have to say...

If you want a 13", I know you said you are not particularly fond of Dell but their Vostro Small Biz line are actually great machines. The V13 is gorgeous in every way and is in your price range. And the Vostro 1320 is available with more power and an optical drive.

Audio on laptop speakers in any case is going to range from passable to piss poor. Sadly I don't think either of these Dell's are going to do much better than piss poor for audio quality. The speaker is either under the keyboard or on the bottom of the machine since it's a small form business laptop, audio is not at the forefront of the feature list. As far as display quality they both feature an LED matte screen and you won't find anything better than that in a low cost machine imo. Anything with a glossy screen is going to suffer from a lot of reflections. Some don't mind, others do... it's up to you (her) there.
