Which Gaming Laptop for around $1000?

My cousin wants a new laptop to game with, despite him getting a laptop just half a year ago. Reason? "Oh it feels like it'll die" Wtf? A simple format Windows Vista and install Windows 7 will fix it. His laptop has over 100 processes anyways!

Anyways so we've narrowed it down to a couple laptops. The budget is $1000, but obviously the lower the better.

HP Pavilion 15.6" AMD Turion II Ultra Dual-Core M660 2.7GHz Laptop (DV6-2164CA) - Future Shop

I really like the Gateway and the Acer laptop as they're both plenty quick and great bang for buck considering what he's using it for. However my cousin wants the HP with the AMD processor. It's slower in every way possible than the others. He was going to purchase it today and I was like fine, I did my job giving him advice. Then he said the reason why he wants that HP is cus he likes the keyboard. WTF? I got so pissed I just walked off and told my mom and in the end, he didn't buy a single laptop. His mom's gonna be so pissed tonight.

So anyways, what do you guys think? Which of the above laptops should he get? I'm definitely against the Hp with the AMD processor.

In that list I would go for the Acer, great Bang for the Buck.

Seems that he'll be getting the Gateway instead of the Acer one. Well either way, both will do what he wants at a great price. My mom said that my aunt isn't letting him get the HP as it's unreasonable and stupid.

Well that's good since it was actually a typo on my behalf  I meant to say the Gateway because of its much higher resolution.

Hmm even though the specs list it has a higher resolution, I think it's a typo on Future Shop's behalf. Saw the laptop yesterday and the font definitely wasn't small enough to be 1600X900. I'll know soon when we go buy it with him today...

Edit: The screen resolution 1366X768. I'm at Future Shop as I type this. The salesman tried to sell us all sorts of stuff like recovery disc, Norton, printer, etc.

What's funny is that I overheard a sales saying that they don't earn by comission.

They do earn comission or sales points on extras, especially when selling extended coverage

My cousin's having a slight problem with the Gateway laptop. He says that his Internet connection isn't really stable while his roommate's laptop is having no trouble surfing the web, using MSN, etc. when he's sitting in my cousin's spot. I told him that formatting the computer should do the trick. Does anyone know what to do?

Got no clue. It's brand new so it's weird. I can't install new drivers for him either till I see the laptop this coming Saturday.

Btw, price dropped to $700 now for the Gateway.

Is it necessary to get dedicated graphics to play a game like company of heroes?

I need to buy a cheap laptop to do some medium level games on... i know its not usually possible.
The highest i'd go is 699 for that last one you posted.
