Default Need help - Mini's screen broken?

I've been using the Mini 1001 (bought in taiwan) for about 9 months now. (warrranty is still active I believe).
Anyway, there's been a strange problem with the screen. The screen scaled back to 800 x 600, but theres a black bar (about 1.5 inch) on the right side of it. the screen is also duplicated on the bottom.

I first thought this was a software problem, so I reinstalled Windows. It didn't go away. I'm starting to think its a hardware problem, but the screen is still working normally, although it is now a 5 or 6 inch screen.

Does HP have international warranty policy? Because I'm in Vietnam now, and I'm not sure if theyll fix it here. Also, does anyone know how to reinstall XP on this thing? I did a clean install with 7, but there is an SD card with a recovery sector ( I think?).

Well of course I tried that first, but the there is no longer an option for 1024 resolution, there is only one option, its 800x 640

anyone? I've gone into the HP forum and there's been a few other ppl who's got the same problem. One of them said its hardware issues, he opened the screen and clean the inside, said it was because of heating problem. I don't know, can heating be the issue here? The screen is still fine though..?

sounds like hardware for sure [screen]. A simple troubleshoot test would be to plug in a monitor on the HDMI port.

Here is the HP support site for Vietnam. Contact HP

They list the support partners here, perhaps you can contact one and see if they can offer you a depot repair service on your product. AP Support Portal

With no evidence of physical abuse to the unit, or evidence of liquid spills inside they should be able to honor the 1 year warranty on site.
