ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

Picked up this Asus for my son about a year ago...paid $1500 for it..things a rocket!!

got it at Direct Canada......try Dc and NCIX.....simply compare CPU / GPU / Memory then decide what you want to spend....imo 1.5K is plenty for a Laptop, but, if you're into really high end...2.5K is thier for you as well!:thumb:

It's not for me...
Personally I don't want a computer sitting in my lap...
It makes parts of me a little uneasy
Besides, if I had that kind of money I'd put together another desktop rig.

Anyway, he's looking to spend around $3000.
I'll share that link with him, rj, thanks.

Uhh why is your friend spending $3000 on a laptop? Get a $1200ish laptop and spend the rest on a desktop.

The best depends on projected usage. Is it going to be used for gaming, CAD/CAM, entertainment or ? You can spend three large on a laptop for any of those uses, but would not be great at all of them.

That's like asking what's the best car for $50k? It depends on what you want it for, what size you want etc...

As dirty as a feel saying it, I know when I looked for my laptop, Dell was offering the best price/performance ratio, and I haven't been unhappy at all with the build quality thus far (it's about a year and half old now). I ended up with a Vostro 1500.

^^ That's a great bang for buck machine but hardly in the $3k category. Maybe a Workstation like the E6500 is more up his alley. Great build quality and style, but not worth sh*t if you want to game as drivers on the Quadro cards are flakey for games :\
