Just an update, I wound up throwing the towel in on this laptop, not the best excursion into the world of laptops (for me personaly) so back to Futureshop with it anyways, I am now eye balling the ASUS units. maybe once Christams has past

Sorry to hear that. Likely you are better off with an Asus, Dell, HP or Toshiba. Never really liked Acer's myself. Staples has a great HP DV5-1157 for $1050. Only 1280x800 but it has a 9600GT, P7350, 4GB, 320GB... hard to say no for that price.

I am pretty biased, but the Lenovo Thinkpad's are a solid line. Never really seen a bad one.

Agreed Lenovo T500 is a solid machine, as are other their models. They won't win any style awards though ;). You'll also get the same performance from the HD3650 as an 8600M GT DDR3. So recent games will play med-high at 1280x800. Worth a look if you are in the market.
