Default [JRV] Enermax EMG900EWT - 900W PSU

Enermax EMG900EWT

Enermax EMG900EWT and its accessories.

Enermax EMG900EWT Product Information.

Specifications of the Enermax EMG900EWT. The 12V1 rail supplies +12V power to 24P Mainboard, 8P CPU, and 4+4P (8P) CPU connectors.

Outer appearances of the Enermax EMG900EWT. The fan used in the PSU has seven (7) blades.

The cable management of Enermax EMG900EWT is partially modular. Native cables are fixed.

Acoustic Noise

The test was carried out in an anechoic chamber with a background noise of not more than 16.6 dBA. A sound level meter, which was placed 30 cm away from the PSU, was used to measure the acoustic noise (in dBA) emitted by the power supply, whilst the audio output of the sound level meter was connected to a dynamic signal analyzer for recording the sound level pressure (SPL) spectrum.

Fig. A2 shows the measured dBA vs output loading for OCZ600SXS and Enermax Modu87+ EMG900EWT. At 600W, Enermax Modu87+ EMG900EWT is approximately 20 dBA quieter than the OCZ600SXS. Thanks to the SpeedGuard technology of the PSU, the fan rotates at speed not more than 1000 rpm at full load (see Fig. A3). Hence, the SPL of the PSU at full load is only about 25 dBA, which is considered relatively quiet. Fig. A4 shows the SPL spectrum of background noise, whereas Fig. A5 compares the SPL spectra of OCZ600SXS and Enermax Modu87+ EMG900EWT at 600W. The SPL spectra when the Enermax Modu87+ EMG900EWT supplies 600W and 900W are depicted in Fig. 6.

Power Efficiency Test

Fig. B3 shows the measured efficiency vs output power for OCZ600SXS and Enermax Modu87+ EMG900EWT. Although this work did not follow the usual loading criteria for 80% PLUS certification, the measured efficiency of the Enermax Modu87+ EMG900EWT with 50% loading is above 90%. Clearly, the Enermax Modu87+ EMG900EWT is about 6% more efficient than the OCZ600SXS at almost every loading condition.

Fig. B4 shows the input voltage and current waveforms when the Enermax Modu87+ EMG900EWT supplies 900W, whilst Fig. B5 shows the harmonic spectrum of the input current. The input power factor and the current total harmonic distortion at output power of 900W are 0.98 and 11.14%, respectively..

The overcurrent protection of the PSU was tested and confirmed to work effectively.
