Well at long last I've gotten my Zune HD. I'm a strong anti-iPod type, and I'll never buy their products. Granted there's some other decent players that are available in Canada, but I don't really like the look and feel of most of them.
The Zune HD however, is stunning IMO. Good form factor and beautiful UI along with NVIDIA Tegra power. Definitely a very smooth UI, the smoothest I've ever used really. Seems solidly built as well.
I've basically installed all the Apps available on Marketplace currently, which isn't much. Couple games, with only the decent ones being PGR Ferrari Edition and Audiosurf. Rest are okay I guess, but I can't see myself playing them too much. App wise, we have Weather and Calculator. Nothing special there really.
Internet browsing is a bit lacking, but what can you expect from an IE-based browser? Renders pages a bit slowly, or perhaps it's slow WiFi, not too sure. No Flash support, don't know if there ever will be. Also the keyboard is difficult to use in portrait mode, in landscape its better but I still struggle with it. Though it's basically the first touch screen keyboard I've used, so that could be why as well. It is a bit on the small side as well.
Music playback works as it should. Sound quality is very good with my Sennheiser CX500s. Same goes for the Radio.
Haven't put much video on it yet, but it's limited in formats that it will play. The Zune software will convert compatible media accordingly though.
Here's a couple shots, with my Zune 2 8GB for size comparison:
Overall, great player. Liking it so far, and it'll probably improve in time with future updates. Hopefully it'll eventually be sold up here in Canada. Until then, I can be one (maybe the only one?) Canadian who has a Zune HD
And in case you're wondering, I got a friend in NY to order it off Newegg.COM for me. Ended up costing me $300USD ($250 for the Zune, $22 USPS shipping) and the remaining difference I gave him for his time and effort.
