not to start an argument but i strongly disagree... i haven't been able to get a virus on any mac i have ever owned... unless your streaming massive porn you won't get any.. :-) ..and not any flaws that i have noticed.. i think the OS is pretty good.. only takes like 5GB to install on an HD and uses very few resources.

Alright....time for me to chime in. Do TRY to not flame what I say as it is the truth.

Mac is a OS. NOT a machine. Think about it. Buy a old PC.....slap the latest OSX on it and there you have a Mac. Really that is all they are. I could pay $2000 for a Mac and have OLD parts in it....OR I could be smart and pay 1500.00 for a MUCH more powerful computer with MUCH more updated and better hardware.

See my point? Mac buyers are paying for old parts and a OS.

Now the Mac OS is Unix based....which is what Linux is also based on. If you must have a Unix based OS but WITHOUT the DRM crud and bloatware and everything like that then you go for a good Linux Disto like Ubuntu or Mint or something like that. You will have a much better PC and a WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better OS.

Umm...excuse me but there is nothing illegal about what I said there. I will expect an apology later for that.

-- It's not that easy. Have you tried it?

Your example is an illegal activity ... no apology needed.

Yes, but that's from a 'hardware guy' stand point who knows computer component cost and has the ability to build his own computer (even if that's not a really difficult task).

Mac is not an OS, Mac is a machine. Your point is worthless.

Why I'm saying it's worthless? Simple: Apple doesn't offer to build a computer like you would for yourself, if you allow me a bad english, they build immutable entity that are slightly upgradable if you want more resources. They are of computers and not just something that you can dismantle or rebuild for fun. They are like cars.
Like a car, if you have the knowledge and time to build your own car, good for you, it will probably cost less and satisfy ALL your needs, but for the people who just want a computer/car that 'works' (as they say), they will go to the dealership/store and buy the -model- they are satisfied with.

If you want to start bashing OSX, please read this before I start naming again -why- OSX is good. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...ion-vista.html
End of page one until page 7.

And sincerely, if you think that Apple offer 'old' parts, you sir don't have a clue about it. Most of last year's xserve had xeon chips that were not even available on the market if I can give an example for devellopers to work with and to compile with. (though there's a NDA on that)
For the 'consumer' grade products, when new model get released they usually have one of the latest hardware possible inside.
