Gskill F2-6400CL4D-2GBHK test review.
2. First Impressions
Gskill is popular for its extreme performance. Not many overclockers like the idea of ram using Promo chips. They usually don’t overclock well, even with high voltages. This is where Gskill comes in, introducing its mid-ranged ram with exceptional Promo chips. I will be demonstrating the power of these modules in a tidy review.

2. First Impressions:
The ram was in a nice compact box with attractive graphics on the cover. The F1 car on the cover most likely represents the ram’s blistering performance. I was introduced to two dark blue sticks of ram when I opened the box. The ram sports a chrome strip going around the edge of the heatspreader along with a chrome emblem saying “Gskill” with its company logo on both sides of the memory stick. The box included a sticker of a snowboarder with “Gskill” written on the snowboard, a “Gskill” metallic emblem and basic instructions.
All in all, I think Gskill has put a good amount of effort into making the package appealing to its consumers. The ram has a nice “bling” factor to it, but it does not kill the slick look of the modules. The modules are also secured in a plastic container to prevent physical damage.

I will be using dual SuperPI 32M applications to test stability for this review. It’s a quick way to establish whether the speed is stable or not. Using dual SuperPI is by no means an easy route to testing a 24/7 stable computer. I will be doing an Orthos stability test for 8 hours on the HK’s, but they will be running within the warranty voltage specs. All speeds are over DDR2-800. I performed memtest86 on these modules for the night before testing them and it didn't receive any failed tests.
They work without a problem at their advertised speeds. (2.1V)
I decided to test the HK's capability of withstanding tight timings. They surprised me by achieving DDR2-800, 3-3-3-8 with 2.35V. No other results with CL3 were achieved because the ram didn't boot above 2.35V.
I began testing timings 4-4-4-12 shortly after. The results I got from testing them proved that the HK's don't respond well to voltage. I'll let the pictures do the talking on this one.

I wandered into the CL5 zone of overclocking. I got a slight frequency gain when loosing the timings to 5-5-5-15. The gain, in my opinion, isn't really significant, but still proves to do fairly well.

This set of ram is definitely for those enthusiasts with a budget. This kit works best with lower voltages. I was rather impressed with the DDR2-1000, 4-4-4-12 speeds due to their low voltage and high frequency. I recommend this kit to all the people who are short of cash, but love to overclock. This kit absolutely dominates the other Promo chips on the market.
-Ability to run aggressive timings
-Nice packaging and covered by a lifetime warranty
-Does not respond well to voltage.

I do have a question though..... being new to intel chipsets & mem controllers I'm still stuck on the idea of trying to get 1t.
Will these run stock settings at 1t? And does that make much difference to bandwidth?

The Intel 965P can't run 1t, it can only run 2t. It's really no big deal though.
