It's just an updated 9400M isn't it?

I really like the new mini in all areas except the price. By the time you get a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers it is gonna be $1000 after taxes. If this was $500 than I could see this selling like hot cakes. This would be perfect for a media center PC that also runs OSX. Loving the size and that they finally made it easy to upgrade the mini.

Not crazy about the larger footprint, I prefer less footprint and higher not fatter and shorter.

Power brick is now inside the case so no external power brick. The HDMI is a good thing ... finally.

BTW 50$ off in the education store ...

It spanks the 9400m in the benchmarks, by about 80% if I remember correctly, so I think it's a new chip, but I don't know for sure. It's one of those custom ones that nVidia does for apple.

The 9400M had roughly the performance of an X1600 Pro, so I dunno where that would put the 320M but it's pretty decent for an integrated card (ie. you can play pretty much everything, at low detail)

By my understanding of the marketing materials, this is aimed at someone who wants an HTPC but thinks the AppleTV is a bit... limited.

People tried to get to the OS X under the AppleTV interface for a while when it came out. It seems to be (and seems to be marketed) as a neat way to get OS X on a TV in a less limited way than the AppleTV.

It's still the lowest-priced Mac on the shelf, although it's now a bit more expensive. =/

If they at least included software for it to be a HTPC but they don't ...

Whatever happened to Front Row? Wasn't that the whole reason in shipping remotes with most Macs?

It's still there ... just checked in the apps on my mini.
However, you need to hack away to play xVid's and other formats.
Remotes can be purchased as an option ...
