Hey everyone! Building a new computer by myself for the first time (built one with the help of an experienced individual) and I'd like a few more opinions on the build I've picked out. Feel free to post or send me a message with reasoning for the part switch or recommendations and I'd appreciate it greatly! I'll take any criticism I can get but preferably positive! Thanks again.

Again this is my first time and things like hard drive size and the amount of ram are personal preference. Thanks in advance; community on this site seems fairly solid!

General use of the computer is gaming at max settings while providing a safe investment for the future; I'd like the computer to last a good 3 to 4 years like my current one has.

Included this as a reply but I'll post it on the first one as well: It was also brought to my attention I'd need to pick up a new version of windows 7 due to the OEM on my original disk? Is this true; or any possible way around it? I've thought about dropping the sound card and getting the OS instead but I wanted to check first.

I went ahead and removed the sound card as the money I save will allow me to purchase a gold rated power supply as someone pointed out in comments. I appreciate all the help you guys have given and will be placing my order within the next few days.

General use of computer?

Do you need a sound card? On board is generally pretty good nowadays.

^^Agree. computer uses/needs/wants is a must to critique.

I also don't see a video card. Unless you want to have less FPS in games than an amd APU i'd suggest adding one with the standard questions filled out.

Sorry for the lack of a video card guys! I already had it ordered and it slipped my mind. Edited the first post but I added my GTX 680 and the general use of the computer. Thanks again!

I don't believe I need a sound card but it was recommended by a friend for higher sound quality. I've also got a rather expensive Sennheiser headset so I'd like to make the most of it.

Top of the line build for a single-GPU system. If you think you may want to go SLI in the future, I'd think about a 750 or 850 watt PSU. Other than that, build it!

Its all great. A few points to ponder on the cost front, but its really good to go if you don't mind the cost.

1) For what this computer will be used for 8gb ram is plenty. You could always buy more down the road if it became limiting, instead of buying it upfront and possibly never needing it.

2) Onboard sound is actually very very good now. My suggestion would be to buy and build your computer (without a sound card) and try it out. If you then find the sound is not what you want it to be it is all to easy to then purchase a sound card and install it.

3) The H100 is a great cooler, but you didn't mention if you will be overclocking or not. If you will be going for max OC then stick with the H100. Otherwise I would go to a quality air cooler that will run within a degree or 2 of the H100, cost less, and generate less noise.

4) i5 3570k will get you the same gaming performance as the i7 3770k for less money. Hyperthreading only makes a difference in highly threaded apps. That said the i7 is great and if you have the extra approx $100 laying around its not going to hurt.

5) Power supply is great, but if you may add a second graphics card you should go for the 850w version. Otherwise stick with the 650w.

Looks like a very slick build. I would perhaps look at a gold rated psu, the power savings are usually worth the extra initial cost. Something from corsair, seasonic, xfx, silverstone would do the job

then theres the x760 from seasonic, ax850, and so on...

overkill maybe might as well go all out.

I don't have any plans to invest into SLI for the future; I'd much rather replace a single card down the road then replace two. Personal choice really.
