Keep in mind that I'm not saying the 2500K isn't a better processor than any current AMD quad core (because it is), just that a higher end Phenom II is more than capable of playing any PC game currently out there, and probably a good many to come.
I will look up the gaming benchmarks, showing an i3 spanking an AMD quad in gaming, i5 is so far beyond an AMD quad, it is like comparing a q9400 to an X6 hexacore.

as far as processor go im looking into switching it... i know for a fact those phenoms are INSANELY overcockable... i can get it too like 5.2 ghz stable easy with that cooler... i was thinking about dropping the nic actually but ive ALWAYS WANTED ONE lol. the hdd i want a good fast high storage rive though and i don wanna deal with raid....also if possible and this is probably what will seal the deal with intel.. i want a good board with TRIM support and non 3rd party controllers for the sata 6 gb/s if i go intel

My point is that a Phenom II is more than playable at the resolutions that we're talking about. Anything over 60fps is useless if you're only using a 60Hz display anyways (which most people are). I was merely objecting to you saying that a Phenom II is completely outclassed by modern games. The fact is that it is not. They are perfectly capable of playing todays modern games. Most games are GPU limited anyways...

I KNOW the the I5 2500K is a much faster processor and will return higher benchmarks. My point is that in the real world, under real conditions, it's much harder to tell the difference.

I don't know why people say that about FPS that's entirely not true what so ever especially in FPS games... higher fps = the better.
