Corsair H100

Hi Linus,

Long time fan, first time poster.

I have been considering building a new system with a 2600k OC. With this, i have been thinking about using either the Corsair H100 or a traditional Heat sink, such as the Noctua (if RAM height permits)

However, I have significant concerns as to whether the H100 will leak over the long life run of the PC causing irreparable damage.

1.) In your experience of using the H100, have you encountered any type of leakage issues with any of the Corsair Hydro ranges?

2.) Is there a way to do an effective test on the H100 prior to installation.

Or perhaps the safest way is to just get a heat sink.

I have only heard of 1-2 cases of corsair coolers leaking, both were H50s, so i would say leakage shouldnt be of worry. You could always plug the pump in and see if it runs, but really the only way to test it is to mount it and see if its doing its job.

I've had my H100 for about 6 months now and it's running just as well as the first day i installed it. No leaks to speak of and gives great temps on my i5 760 oc to 4ghz. Believe me, you won't regret it if you buy one. Just make sure it'll fit in your case.

Me too. I have the H100,and never had any issues what so ever. Best damn sealed unit liquid cooler available today. IMO.

i have a 1090t at 3.9ghz and i never temps over 50c while running prime. as a comparison i had a coolermaster v6gt and at 3.5 it would hit 55c running prime i actually never hit 4 with the v6gt it just couldnt handle it.

I have the h100 and mine was noisy as shit when I first got it. I could hear air bubbles trapped somewhere in the pump. The noise would only go away after i pick up my computer and spin and tip it in every angle for the air bubbles to become released from where ever they were trapped. It seems to have worked itself out over time which is what they said on the forums. Corsair did approve RMA but I was too lazy to pack it up and repaste my cpu and all that so I decided to just tuff it out. With all that being said I still get ok temps... maybe they should be better though..... IDK. 70C after 8 hours in prime95 @ 4.4ghz with the i5 2500k.

TBH I wish I bought something like the XSPC Rasa240 kit. I wouldnt buy another H100 as there are many many problem posts on the corsair forums with the h80 and h100.

Hey, I'm looking at getting either the H80 or the H100 for my new build. Are you guys using push-pull setups for your H100? Anyone tried 32mm fans, would that improve performance much?

About the h50 leaking, corsair replaced all the parts in the computer+added a few goodies

im just using the fans off the v6gt that i was using before, some of the best fans ive ever used and they are pushing ( not that it really matters) but i do want to push pull. its just that coolermaster doesn't sell the fans separately afaik.

The only major problems I have heard so far was a bad batch of H100s where the fan controller prematurely failed on some units. However this has since been resolved. If you're still worried this is the specific batch that was affected:

As for push pull with the H100 you aren't going to see huge temp differences mainly because the H100 has quite a lose fin array. A lot of people seem to recommend the CM blade masters because they're cheap and they're quiet and output a lot of air. Only downside is that they don't last as long because of their sleeve bearing but at under $10 at most stores it's still a good value.
