Going from a 2500K to a 2600K - Do I need to change my power supply?

Hi... I have a question... I'm trying to build a gaming computer and came up with these parts..

I kinda wanna change the cpu for Intel Core i7-2600k BX80623I72600 Processor

would i need to change my power supply for a better one?


I only have like 700 or 1000 to spend...

or what would u recommend i get with that much money?

That power supply is MORE than enough to upgrade the CPU and even put some significant additional graphics horsepower into that machine.

On that note, I think you should upgrade to a 560 Ti instead of changing the CPU if this machine will be for gaming...

For gaming, definitely spring for a GTX 560 Ti and keep the 2500K. No brainer.

Also, couldn't some money be saved by going with P68 over Z68? I haven't looked at parts recently, so I'm not sure.

No need to upgrade to a 2600k. Put that money into the gpu.
