Default Can the Intel data migration software be used on non-Intel drives?

This is a question from ritzwayne:

i want to use the intel data migration software to transfer my operating system to a non intel drive, will that work?
According to the forum post I found here it won't work: http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&...2XXxLnIY8jAeqg

There are lots of data migration options out there though. Personally I favour the good ol' fashioned "fresh install, then copy data manually" method (which is free) but maybe there are some other opinions on the subject :)
