iphone 4 with fido ''dumb'' sim card Anyone know if it is possible to take a fido iphone 4 and put in a sim card from from a fido non ''dumb-phone"? I would not be using 3G data, just wifi whenever i could get it. Not sure if the sim cards would be the same size, but I hear they can be trimmed down to fit as the chip is the same regardless of nano or micro sim cards. Thanks |
Yeah you'd likely have to cut the SIM card, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'm pretty sure you could still pull 3G/4G/LTE data over it too if your plan allows it. I really don't believe they have "different" SIMs for LTE and what not. It's just a unique ID to register the device on the network. |
I'm thinking of maybe trying to buy a used iPhone 4 on ebay for cheap and then just use it as a normal phone for talk and text. I don't need data let alone want to pay for it. I can't stand my current samsung lynx. The keyboard is driving me crazy. I Just want something easier to use with a better camera and don't want to sign a new ''deal'' with the carrier. |
Yeah I've done that many times in the past with Rogers SIM's. Never had any issue. Just make sure you buy a decent SIM Cutter I'd say. I believe iPhone4 uses Micro SIM. |
iPhone 4 is micro sim, iPhone 5 is nano sim. If there's a cellphone repair place anywhere near you, try phoning them to see if they offer SIM card cutting. I have the tool at work for it and I've never had a problem so far. |
Thanks guys. Yeah I'd probably want to make sure that it gets cut properly. I'll check out those sim cutters. |
