My System Specs

Default Conversion help
Scenario:

DVD (home dvd) needs to be copied (done) and converted on a pc into a file it that can be uploaded to an Iphone/iPad. I have the software installed to upload to Iphone/IPad, just can't convert the file to do so.

Opensource/free trial software only

What should I use to do this? Tried Videora which failed.

UPDATE--

Tried AVS Converter 7.1, Patched it and it works great! Even has a variety of editing abilities-- very nice program.

Highly recommend!

try the VLC app for your iphone. It plays more video formats than itunes does.
