Default source for iphone parts?

I'm looking to buy an iphone 3gs screen. The glass is cracked, but the lcd and digitizer are fine. Would anyone recommend a particular source for parts? Im located in Ottawa.

Not sure man, sounds like if you do find them anywhere it'll be oddball dealers selling junk apple stuff. I don't think there is a major, readily available industry of replacement parts for these. People usually just throw them out.

What about looking around for a broken one with a functioning screen that you can scoop for cheap? Ebay etc?

Apple iPod Accessory iPod Accessories Mac Software Mac Memory Apple Repair Store

Try to buy suction cups as well, easiest way to lift the screen off carefully.

iFixit (the guys that dissect new Apple products) have a glass replacement kit for the 3GS here. They also have step by step directions.

K I have repaired my iPhone 3 times now. Almost half the parts have been replaced by me. The store that I prefer because it is the cheapest is China Ontrade - iPhone Spare Parts and Accessories Wholesale Supplier -.

Now to replace the cracked screen can be tricky and you could damage other parts like the proximity sensor or the home button. So just be extra careful. If you don't already know how to replace the glass there are tutorials at iFixit.com.

The front panel kit above is a very good choice as it includes all the items you will need at a fair price.

There is a cell repair guy we use where i work. He's really good and fairly reasonable in terms of pricing. I would give them a call and see if they can help you out. They are at 250 Greenbank Road in the mall with the metro. I think it's call The Cell Shop or Cellphone Repairs or something like that.

Thanks for the replies, and your offer lcdguy. Its my gf's phone and she found someone on kijiji that would replace the glass for 30$. I'd do it myself, but knowing how fragile the phones can be, figured I might as well let someone experienced (hopefully) do it. Ill let ya know how it turns out.

Back it up and then wipe it before you send it out.

So she made an appointment at the apple store, and she was out of the store after 15m, with the glass replaced, free of charge. Not sure what warranty she had, but +1 for apple support.
