Default Transfer iPod music to iTunes on PC hard drive

I recently built a new computer with a new hard drive and want to transfer my collection of music from my iPod back to the iTunes program on my computer. Is there an easy free way to do this?? Sorry I'm not more up on this technology so that is why I'm asking. I don't want to have to rip all my music from CD's back on to my hard drive. Would appreciate some feed back. Thanks.

if you have a nano you can go to you ipod folder and click show hidden folders.(forget what menu its under..) or if you have an ipod touch you need two programs.

Iphone browser.
iphonebrowser - Project Hosting on Google Code

and God Father

first use iphone browser to get the songs onto your computer then use the godfather thing to rename them (as they will be all wierd named..)

Or just use iTunes and sync it back.

That won't work, unless Itunes has undergone a major change lately. If your current Itunes library is blank and you connect an Ipod with music or no music doesn't matter. Itunes will ask you if you want to sync your Ipod with that Itunes library, which if their is no library means it will erase all the music off of your ipod.

So do not, under any circumstances sync your Ipod with music, to your Itunes with no library. Follow the guide above.

First thing you should do once you get this sorted out is back up your Itunes library. You can copy and past your library folder to a external hard drive (which is what I use for back up), or use Itunes back-up program which is under the advanced tab in the menu. If you use the Itunes back up make sure you have a crap load of DVD's, because it's the only media you can use for back up with Itunes.

Good luck.

Well I know it transfers purchases from iTunes. But always have a back-up no matter what. I even have an off-site back-up through carbonite.

Hello,
I'm sorry to tell you that Apple doesn't allow you to transfer your collection of music from your iPod back to the iTunes on your computer. But recently I found a program - iPod to iTunes Transfer, which can replace Apple iTunes to transfer all files back to iTunes easily.

It is easy to use. Though you are a newbie, you can operate it effortlessly. If you are still worried about the guide of how to use it, please refer to the article - Sync iPod to iTunes.
