I use a Harmony One and something like this for mouse movement and typing. Good range but the build quality is not that great.

I think an air mouse and keyboard combo would make a good all around HTPC controller though

I agree with the wireless mouse keyboard but unfortunately the microsoft keyboard and remote don't work with the new windows for some stupid reason .

LOFREE MT-200 is good all around and has a nice piano finish. You can find a review online that is similar to my experience. For $8 on eBay and around $10 + Shipping local it is a steal. Even newegg.com has it.

I always wanted a trackpad to try on a desktop. I wanted to buy the Logitech trackpad but it is $40. but i knew I wasn't going to use it much so for $8 this is great.

So I finally got something other than a wireless mouse to work my HTPC with.

I absolutely requires line of sight and the button are a bit wonky but other than that it seems to work well. It's nice to have a keyboard to use. it's also a bit smaller than the Logitech K400 which is nice. The optical trackball does it's job just fine.

Does the trackball work to wake the system from sleep (or in my case. just the monitor)? I have an aluminum enermax HTPC keyboard that's just gorgeous, but it drove me nuts because the trackball wasn't recognized the same as a mouse would be for waking the system. :)

I just use my phone now. I have a Logitech K400 but it doesn't get much use anymore.

I'll be honest, i don't know. I know that if I leave it for a while then the device disconnects from the HTPC and i have to press the connection button on the bottom of the keyboard. Next time I get the chance I will put my box into sleep mode and see what happens.
