do i need to crank the volume to get accurate reading as my neighbours would not be happy with me :)

That's a good question really, one possibility, though don't know how it'll affect the test is if you cranked the receiver up but lowered the source to nearly muted.

well at normal listening volume for me (around -30) it drawing around 80 watts or 109 va if i really crank it (around -15) it only jumps up to around 87watts
