HTPC OTA Recording Issues
New to the forums, looks like a great community.
I've been trying to build a basic HTPC that will act as an access point for internet video and also as a DVR for my over-the-air digital signal I get in Toronto.
I have built a machine with:
-Core i3-540 @ 3.06GHz
-MSI H55M-ED55 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
-Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 Tuner
-an old 80GB hard drive for the time being
-4GB DDR3 RAM
-Windows 7 Ultimate
I have tried Windows Media Center and even purchased SageTV (months ago, before they were bought by Google). Both programs say that it cannot find a signal, though when I connect my antenna directly to my TV I get 10 channels crystal clear. I then thought the problem was with my tuner card, spoke with the manufacturer and ended up returning it for a replacement. Got the new one and had no change.
By this point I feel I've tried so many options that I'm feeling it's almost not worth it anymore. ALMOST.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I've never played around with that hardware but it sounds like you need to make sure the card is tuning with the ASTC tuner and that the cable is in the right port, etc.
I'm interested in what you're doing as I'm considering doing the same thing myself.
Not sure what kind of setup you have, but keep in mind that the CRTC is removing OTA transmissions august 31st.
