Default XBMC stopped using the GPU for video playback

As of two days ago XBMC seems to have stopped using gpu acceleration even though it is enabled. I update xbmc to 10.1, as well as updated my onboard hd 4200 graphic drivers as well to no avail. I can still get proper gpu acceleration in my video playback by using vlc, so i know the drivers are still working. I was wondering fi anyone had any ideas other then completely wiping my config settings/files for xbmc or reformatting (had to install new ati drivers before this happened as audio through hdmi had magically stopped but is back now).
Here I am: here I remain
