Default HTPC recommendations

I am building a new HTPC but all i really need to do with it is playbakc movies since i have no tv service currently. however i want to be able to playback hi-def content up to 1080p and was wondering on recommendations. Also if i am hooking the videocard up to a 1080p tv does it still need to be a HDCP enable videocard.

Yeah- you'll need HDCP on the video card- I think some of the 7900s are HDCP enabled

NCIX.com - Buy Diamond Viper Radeon HD 2600XT 800MHZ 256MB 800MHZ GDDR3 Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out Video Card - 2600XT256PE3SB In Canada. a cheap 2600XT that is HDCP enabled

I'm using a Sat card and My Theatre software. Works good.

well my htpc is now all up and running now and i can defeintely say that i am glad i upgrade. Already my projector looks awesome. (it's now running at 750P instead of the normal 525i.) I can't wait this coming year. I am thinking about a nice 42" 1080p plasma or lcd. as well a HD/BR DVD Drive :)
