life gets in the way sometimes.. if you have a family + job = no time for the fun stuff.

I lol'd at the OP - I didn't see this thread when it came out.. but I pretty much started on step 2 before I stopped myself. I sold off the HTPC on ebay + the spare parts here, than bought a Patriot box office and built a WHS that only expands hard drives when it's needed.. much more cost efficient.

My rigs evolve this way too. Gotten worse after I started folding. The folding rig was a place to put discarded main rig parts.

Today, I have an i7 970 coming for the folding rig...

I used to have a blog that I would post the pictures of the stuff I opened up a few people I knew visited that really liked the unboxings, but I just haven't been up to open anything lately. Probably when I get my living room a little cleaner and together I'll start unboxing things for my htpc. Here's a couple pictures.

some boxes are open here cause it's some of my older stuff.

Can I get the messiest house of the year award :P

What happens if something is defective? I always open my boxes and give the hardware a lil' test run to make sure I don't have to RMA anything.

haha great read, this is pretty much what I go through every day! If it were up to me alone I would spend thousands of $$ on PC components. Thank God I have people to look after me lol

Lol, I'm sure nothing's dead :P I cleaned out most of the empty boxes and put them in my tv's box to clear some of the clutter up. Looks alot better, but yea I always worry about getting something DOA but I've been lucky so far *knocks on wood*
