I'll probably use my Q6600/P5Q to replace the ATOM as a HTPC once I get the cash for my i7 upgrade, it draw's a TAD bit more power, but it will play anything no matter what POS gpu I stick in it, I can probably leave it in standby and it will still turn on before the darn TV does... Vacuum tube based TV's turn on faster than this thing...

Wow, that's HTPC overkill but if you already have the parts, why not?

only if you don't pay games on you htpc ( i plan on putting an i7 in my htpc and yes it's over kill but it just means that i won't have to upgrade it when the wife wants to play dirt2 or gta i runn a quad there know only because i have a extra one.) my htpc's are not just for 1080p movies i want 1080p games too the wife likes playing games on the bigger screen .

I understand.

My issue with any HTPC build is having to balance noise/heat, value & performance. This is why my latest build went with an E5200 (Great overclock possibilities) which when paired with a good quiet video card will still allow satisfying gaming performance, albeit not hardcore. For that I prefer my desktop.

It's all about priorities I guess.
