I was just wondering, do you need a horizontal case to consider your rig a HTPC???

3dMark05 result : low 17K

I just love this rig, but I find it a bit on the noisy side, I am consideraing a new case with sound deadening material. It's not the fans that annoy me, there is a High pitched noise in there, don't know what it is. It may be due to my High overclock.

I think how you use your PC makes it a HTPC or not. I have a mid-tower case for mine. Here is a link to pics I posted in the case gallery: My HTPC.

By the way Para_Franck the Sonata 550 Plus is a very quiet case with sound deadening material on the panels and silicone anti-vibration feet and silicone washers for the hard drives or a you can suspend the hard drives for even less vibration. Payed 160 plus tax, but the power supply in this case is listed at most places for 110 so you are only paying 50 for the case.

I just put together a nice HTPC, though its not entirely done. I'll upload some pictures once its all finished.

Athlon X2 4600 (AC Freezer 7 Pro)
GA-MA78GM-S2H (This includes an onboard 3200, which has HDMI out and can play 1080p perfectly fine)
4GB of OCZ Gold (Should get it from belgolas some time this week)
80GB for OS + 3x500GB RAID5 for data (Two of the 500s are still in my PC)
Onboard sound (I don't know if there is any way to use a soundcard and still use the HDMI audio on the motherboard.
Antec Sonata III + included 500W PSU (I replaced the fans with the 20db 40CFM Sythe fans but because the motherboard has only 2 fan headers, I just modded the intake one to 7V)
and a SATA LG DVD burner

The TV is a 46in Sony Bravia, and the sound system is a 2.0 Harman/Kardon system from 1983 which sounds great but isn't surround sound. (I believe my parents plan on keeping the two main speakers and just building the 5.1 based on that, with a new stereo of course, I've called dibbs on the old one).
