My System Specs

Default HDMI 1.2 TV 1.3 Receiver

Hey guy's/gals.

I'm planning on getting a suround sound setup for my HDTV. Only I don't know if the fact that my is TV limited to HDMI 1.2 rather than 1.3a. should play a role in my decision? I plan to use my HD 5870 on it for gamming as well.

I guess what I'm asking is, should I even care about a receiver that has HDMI 1.3+ when looking for one or just get a model irrespective of the HDMI spec? And use Toslink instead.

Honestly, I could give you a long answer but I suggest you check this site:

However, it is important to also note that all HDMI versions are backwards compatible, so it does not matter what version of HDMI is in the component, all HDMI-enabled components will work together at the highest level of shared functionality.
Thanks for the link SKY.
