Was reinstalling an OS on a shuttle this weekend and noticed a long delay after hitting the power button till the system started. Anyway added a fx5200 to this system was running onboard vid prior to this and reinstalled XP. Freind took it home and it wouldn't start up. So today took it back and figured it was just not getting the message through from the start button pulled jp10 plug that control's the start and reset and a few leds on the front panel jumped the power on pins and this thing started crackling like a mother and sparks happening in the power supply. Was cool...:angry2:

This puppy am afraid is going to blow up. What should I do order a new power supply for this unit or am I just wasiting money and should call it quits on this system, though my freind wont be impressed.

Will a normal power supply work here if I tryed from one of my other systems or will it blow up this sff board ie: a 400 WATT from a ATX case for example?

Power supply smells like a walky-talky set used to when ya opened the package at x-mas when you were a kid...

Thx in advance for any help.

I'm pretty sure a regular power supply won't fit but you can temporarily hook it up outside the case to see if it will still post. If it does you can go ahead and order a replacement PSU that will fit. I would recommend FSP as a replacement, as they are high quality and should make one that fits that case.

going to give it a shot and see if she boots on a reg power supply for now fortron power supply your were referring too fsp ?

my ocz has 4 extra pins on my atx ps connector going to check the one in my other rig.

Yes, FSP is Forton/Sparkle

I believe the one in that case may be a 20pin. If you have a 24pin you still might be able to plug it in with 4 pins hanging over the one side *IF* nothing is in the way.

ya works fine on reg ps, posting with it now, thought I blowed this thing up.

My other rig has a 20 pin in it. Will start hunting a fortron now for this thing. Have a freind works for shuttle in Tiawan hopefully can find something local. CC has them listed but out of stock and 75 bucks for a 250 watt. Kinda looks like this one is a 200 watt.

Thanks for your help Gav and quick response.

No problem. If you can provide a pic of the power supply with dimensions i'm sure I can source an FSP unit for you.
