Actually no.

Nvidia GTX 280 = 240 Shaders x 2.5 = 600

ATI HD4870 = 800 Shaders = 800

Going by those numbers it looks like a HD4870 is going to be about 25% faster than a GTX 280 in terms of folding power simply due to the number of shaders the RV770 core has.

Yea I noticed an increase in ATI folding lately as well. 8800GTS is still outfolding 3870 but just by ~1000ppd.

Be nice if I could use my 2x800 SP for Folding, but with no decent method of fan control, nor better aftermarket cooling, my gaming PC has been sitting pretty much idle. On that note, did they ever get two instances running on X2 cards?

What's the ppd on both cards? I still have my 4870, and a swap can be quickly done...

Hrm.... makes me think something is going on there.... I consistantly get 2400+ with my 3870 and the quad is currently only running @ 3G.

They're some goofball 177 point ones. I'll check the WU number when I get home. I was getting around 2500 PPD when I first put the card in. I'll also disable Boinc for 24 hours, see if that's causing any issues.

I know the Nvidia client doesn't like me trying to use up the extra cpu cycles on my E8400. Drops at least 10% even though I'm leaving aprox. 30% free on the second core.
