I'm folding with the GTX280, which oddly enough FAHmon shows the same ppd (4937.14) as my 8800GTS that was folding prior to the swap? I've uninstalled the drivers, safemode driver cleaner, re-installed drivers, un-installed - re-installed the Client, relinked the Work folder to FAHmon and it's still the same ...

177.79 drivers
6.20 latest version
702/1566/1188 on the card.

Found the problem: the card doesn't like the 177.79 drivers... so I installed the new 177.83 PhysX driver pack. That took care of the problem... 7824ppd...

Now that is some serious Folding power. When you think about what it took to get that kind of points before the GPU client arrived...wow.

Wait till you get a 5504 or 5505 WU, My ppd increases by close to 300 points with them.

I know what it took to generate ~4800ppd with my Q6600: Vmware, dual Linux instances, and Linux SMP clients running in both Linux instances. Add a Quad oc'ed to 3.8Ghz under some major water-cooling.

That 7800ppd is simply awesome, considering it's a single GTX280, running oc'ed with the stock fan @ 100%. Anyone can do that.

Anyone did. I got the rig in my sig on the 29 june, downloaded the client the next afternoon and was getting 5000+ ppd before bedtime. This while knowing next to nothing about folding and never having used vista before.

My previous rig was a PIII-600 with a 128mb ram, a 32mb videocard and running 98SE. What a difference. I certainly learned alot surfing HWC, which is why I joined...

Amazing, isn't it? It used to take me hours to set up VMware, install dual Linux instances and run those 2 Clients... what a mess. Now you buy a card, install the correct drivers and the GPU2 client. All that in less than 10 minutes.

BTW, FAHmon update: ~7975ppd on the GTX280... it's rising!

Next stop 8000. With that one card alone You will be the biggest points producer on the team, Yup amazing.

I've only been doing this for a month and a half and I'm already trying to find a way to fit in another card!

Btw, Did you see this at Bit-tech 51 GPU Folding@home setup is a beast. Now that is dedication...

Addictive, isn't it?

Yes, I have seen a few farms of this magnitude, but strictly C2D / C2Q farms. We had our own farmer last year - pscout had a 16 C2Q farm. Unfortunately he left us. But GPU farms? Not yet.
