Anybody using Boincview? I downloaded it, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet.

I can't figure out what if anything the reason for getting this thing is? What does it do exactly?

I am curious about it.
I'll let you know tomorrow, if I don't forget to install it again...

It's still running on BETA software and drivers, so I won't expect too much from it.

Cool,

So does it means it will report as a unit with RAC calculation for the team Hardware Canuck ?

Cant wait to see how it goes.

No I think you have to join one of the projects that support it. Rosetta doesn't support it, so it wont count for the HWC team. You might be able to see it in the list of projects that he is working on though.

About the impact of overclocking, this is far from being a stastically correct study but after 55 hours of crunching at 3.96 ghz from 3.8 on my e8400 here is what I found :

average credit per hour of 39.5 vs 36.4
Average granted vs claimed credit : 129 % vs 119%

So overclocking seems to be worth it credit wise.

But maybe it is because of the projects or I should simply include more hours in my work unit sample.

P.S I had a nice excel table made but I am not able to paste it.

Oh I'm 100% sure that you get a higher granted credit if you OC your processor. When I was running my q9450 at stock (2.66) I was getting 65-75 granted credit, and when I ran it at 2.8 I was getting around 75-85 granted credit, now I'm running at 3.2 (haven't done too many yet, but they seem to be around 85-100.

Oh and for all of these examples I'm letting boinc use my processor 70% of the time

Didn't want to make a new post for this: I keep getting an error of sorts in the messages for BOINC.

It Says: "Task 'such and such' exited zero status but no 'finished' file.
If this happens repeatedly you may have to restart the project."

I've restarted but no dice, keeps doing it.

GPUGrid is running their own project, separate from Rosetta. From their website:
Molecular simulations of Triose Phospate Isomerase (TPI) enzymes

This workunit investigates the conformational differences that arise when TPI enzymes undergo tyrosine nitration as a consequence of inflammation, defective mithocondrial respiration and oxydative stress. Workunits last around one day and must completed before 4 days.

I don't really understand what that means :P. I created a new team for HWC: http://www.gpugrid.net/team_display.php?teamid=697 if anyone is interested to join. Not sure yet how much faster this is compared to folding on my CPU. I'll compare my creidt after a few days, I guess.

When the new task just started, looks like it will take 5-6 hours to complete on an 8800 GT.
