Soooo if I'm an Ncix folder I can keep the same username & passkey? All I need to do this year is change the team, correct?

Do we need to switch our folding names?? I would search for the answer but I'm at work right now and can't.

Yes AFAIK all you have to do is change the team number to 54196.

@Spikemaul: no need to change usernames as we are folding under HWC this year...

That's what I'm going to do Gav.

But I'm not sure how the passkey works. Is it tied to Team + User ID? Or does the Passkey float around wherever you use it regardless of team or user ID?

If it doesn't "float" it would mean no bonus added for workunits on HWC team until 10 units are completed I believe.

Yeah, that was exactly my concern... thanks for articulating it much better than I

Folding@home - FAQ-passkey

What is a passkey?

The passkey, a new feature beginning with the v6.0 FAH client, is a unique identifier that ties your contributions directly to you (not just those with your username). The use of a passkey prevents others from cheating using your name. Obtain a passkey from our web site (see below), enter it when you configure the client, and the client and servers will do the rest. You should keep your passkey secret.

From the above I believe the passkey would "float" as it is a "unique identifier" and would apply only to one individual (if not shared) and so when it is entered under HWC I hope the bonus goes with it... Guessing though...

I'm pretty sure the passkey is tied to your username and email address you registered it with... I don't think it matters which team you fold for.

This is correct. Your passkey is NOT tied to your team, but to your username.

So, if you are currently folding for another team and want to help us out for the Chimp Challenge, simply change your team number to 54196. Keep your username or pick a new one, it's up to you.
