Solar panel and Batteries are expensive.

Deep Draw Batteries $$$

There is a company that's selling larger solar panels and solar set ups to sell power to Ontario hydro the up front cost is what gets you.

They are supposed to pay fore themselves in 10 to 15 years.
EDIT : These guys may be able to direct you to some one in your area http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&...mkEXucvd5yK1ag

I thought that the Ont government closed that project down because it was costing them wayyyy toooo much money. (Basically every farmer with an open field beside their house was installing solar panels to take advantage of the government program.... )

I think you'd be much better off with a wind powered folding machine. More bang for your buck that way.

Not going to happen, you're going to end up spending more money on the solar panels then you'll end up saving from them, not to mention the sheer number of them you'll require and be SOL if it's cloudy.

I did a project two years ago trying to make a solar powered front porch lights and damn solar panels really need to come a lot further for them to be a real viable solution, at least in places that do not get a lot or as high intensity sunlight as those closer to the equator.

A decent entry level solar kit + batteries is going to be in excess of $2000 to get setup, if you do everything yourself.
That's a lot of power from the electric company before it becomes worthwhile to install solar yourself. Addition to that, you need a ventilation system for open batteries, maintenance and replacing the batteries every 3-10 years (based on usage, 50% cycle, etc) as near half the cost of the entire system.. there isn't a cost-break setup that works without government sponsorship.
