Considering I have one HD3850 working averaging a mere 1700PPD and an overclocked QX9770 at almost 4Ghz, don't you think that 50% is a bit....extreme?

In the other thread Dashock pretty much showed that an E3110 @ 2Ghz doesn't bottleneck an 8800GT in folding. Yet here my QX9770 is working at 50% to feed info to a HD3850? It makes no sense to me.

the GPU client eats about 60% of my E8400 with the ATI card. My 8800GT averaged about 10% CPU usage. Now you know why I'm thinking about bailing on Folding@Home again.

All right, I just got off the phone with the head of ATI driver development. Thank god he answers his cell on Sundays....

I seems like the GPU v3 client will have better optimizations for ATI GPUs. The undertone of the conversation seemed to be that ATI didn't communicate their GPU layouts to the F@H GPU devs very well or something was lost in translation so even with the v2 client, things were performing the way they should.

As for me, I am switching to an Nvidia GPU the second this WU is done.

With your processor your best PPD will be with the 6.22 SMP from Folding@home - DownloadWinOther
