Default v7 news item

Folding@home: Version 7.2.9 of the Folding@home software is now available

Does this mean kepler cards will be automatically upated in the new V7 version of the client. Do we asssume we are good to go by downloading this client and running with it. Kepler is not mentioned, just latest and greatest hardware..

Is anybody out there running this new client. If so do you have any insights to pass along. Thanks.

I don't know about the new client, but the new version of core 15 bites big time!!!! I'm seeing a 20%+ increase in TPF on my 580, and no apparent improvements on the 680. Is this their plan for "normalizing" points between GPU and CPU once they add speed based bonus'?

I'm running it now on a GTX680 and can confirm that it "works" out of the box without having to set any special values. OTOH, it remains to be seen, but the first WU I pulled on it (6802 (0, 22, 1043) ) certainly isn't optimised for kepler, it's only pegging the power usage at 79%, but at least it's running so we'll see if it's just a bogus WU (I pulled the same series as the first one on my 580 as well).

How is it running WRT SMP?

I'll switch over to the new client once my GTX680 arrives in the mail.

SMP seems fine. I've put the beta flag back into the gpu client in the hopes that I'll start pulling the WUs that actually use the card, but only time will tell.

The've really made a mess out of GPU folding with the release of a15 V2.25. Most folks are reporting TPF 20 - 50% longer than the same WU on V2.22.

*sigh, Why did I choose now to start folding with Nvidia all of a sudden? My timing is always off...
