v7 client and GTX 680 update

Interesting update here folks:

In the past, support for specific GPUs was built into the client. We are working on ways to automatically update this information more easily within the v7 client to support new GPUs, such as the Kepler GPUs which have just came out. While the automatic update isn't ready yet, here is how one can manually do this:
1) Download the GPUs.txt file from https://fah-web.stanford.edu/file-re...ublic/GPUs.txt
2) Copy the downloaded GPUs.txt file to the client's run directory. The run directory is also called the data directory. It's the same location as the 'client.db' file. In Windows there is a link to this directory in the start menu.
3) After installing the file you must restart your client.
The client has a built-in GPUs.txt which it will use if it does not find one on disk. The client will print a message to the log, very early on, when it reads GPUs.txt from the run directory.
In a future version of the v7 client, this will happen automatically, but for now, we are updating this file on our web site and donors can do this update manually for new hardware.

Any folders out there with a GTX 680 who can test to see if that guy will fold now? The cores are not optimized yet but this might get something going.

No money in budget for 680 right now.....:sad:

I haven't been able to buy any cards unfortunately. Block have been here for a week w/ no cards to install them too.

I've been expecting, and waiting for this. It's folding fine (I think?). Numbers to follow - 1st WU is a 7640. I need to configure HFM to add the Client for ppd.

edit: HFM is configured, but I remember reading that the Client starts the GPU, but no actual work is being done. Working on it.

Well, just as I expected; GPU is recognized, but stays still at 0%. One step in the right direction, I guess? But we still have to wait.

I don't suppose you have a link to the fah forums for discussions on this do you? I'm currently doing a search, but all that I've found so far has been an old thread discussing the fact that the new architecture probably won't fold all that well.

Has anybody had a 680 folding yet?

edit: I'm guessing this is the best they've got so far?

Yup, it is. With the V7 Client.
Installed the V6 Client, and it is not folding. Guess we'll wait some more.

Adding the GPU.txt list to the data folder causes my GTX 680 to work but because this is not an optimized client I am only getting about 500 points every 3-4 hours. I have an EVGA GTX 680.
