If anyone would like to voice their opinion on F@H forums, this is the thread. Folding Forum • View topic - Folding and HP Cloud Service They really don't care about HPCS as long as they are getting WU's done.

Didn't bother reading the thread, but why would the Pande group care? They are in it for the science, and are probably happy that HPCS is burning through the units. The whole points system is just to keep us uber-competitive enthusiasts interested.

Stop the points system and the people participating would fall in half or less....

At least half, I know i would scale back some. Or at least not try as hard to get more points from what I have. speaking of which, On the weekend I overclocked a Xeon X3330 to 3.7GHz. Still need to work on memory timings but it'll be folding for the week. I'll look at it again on the weekend. It's getting about 60PPW

I know the points system keeps the general populace interested and folding. My point was that the Pande group doesn't care about the individual points, they care about the results they are getting back. So if someone decides to rent a super computer and does 20 billion points per day, they won't take much notice of people bitching about it. They'll be happy that much computing power is being put towards their research.

That being said, I just bought a $600 processor instead of a $300 one because it has more cores and gets more points.
