Latest proposal from evga.

CCC - Categorized Chimp Challenge

All teams compete in 3 (or more categories). Suggestion:
Total points
Conversion percentage
Chimp Challenge growth (percentage increase over last year's CC)
Any other relevant, measurable factor teams value
At the end of the competition, each team places in all categories, and the team with the best overall performance is crowned "King of the Chimps" and receives this year's jaded monkey. Best overall performance is determined by the highest combined rank in the contest, taking into account their relative performance in each category.

4 Team Example:
Place Total Points (mil) Conversion (%) Growth (%)
1 Team A: 140 Team C: 90 Team B: 60
2 Team C: 110 Team D: 80 Team C: 40
3 Team D: 80 Team B: 70 Team A: 30
4 Team B: 70 Team A: 60 Team D: 20
Total: 400 300 150

Relative Standings:
Divide by the "Total Row" above, then multiply by 100 (to find percentage in total)
Place Total Points Conversion Growth
1 Team A: 35.0 Team C: 30.0 Team B: 40.0
2 Team C: 27.5 Team D: 26.7 Team C: 26.7
3 Team D: 20.0 Team B: 23.3 Team A: 20.0
4 Team B: 17.5 Team A: 20.0 Team D: 13.3

Team A wins the Points.
Team C wins the Conversion.
Team B wins Growth.

Final Score:
Team A's final score: 35 + 20 + 20 = 75.0
Team B's final score: 17.5 + 23.3 + 40 = 80.8
Team C's final score: 27.5 + 30 + 26.7 = 84.2
Team D's final score: 20 + 26.7 + 13.3 = 60.0

Team C wins the overall challenge.

It is true that each category is weighed with the same weight of 1/3 (one third), however the performance of a team within each category is directly taken account. I suppose this is the main issue, and this modification takes care of that.
Hydro-Quebec is salivating...

Default I'd like a quick poll on this!

For the Chimp Challenge Race, would you rather:

A) Be required to change your folding name to be entered into the race?

B) Be allowed to keep folding with your own regular folding name, but still be in the race?

I'm campaigning for a change to option B. Let's change it!

The above spreadsheet is disturbing because the "adjusted conversion" column, makes no adjustments. Also, what is the difference between "conversion" and "growth"?

If a team grows their production over last years race the most, shouldn't they win the race? If it's a handicap race, they should win.

I don't mind giving the flat out points winner a different colored jaded monkey plaque - maybe with a scroll at the bottom to further id the raw points winner. Having a separate category for them, is a bit off-putting, since only two teams are possible winners.

Olympic organizers decree its too much work to get everyone to London to race in 2012. Teams in sports such as the 4 x 100 relay will be allowed to race on their home tracks and phone in the results. Fans couldn't be more excited about the prospect, with one saying "its thrilling to know that they won't have to do much and we'll get to hear about the best results possible".

The point is that races are supposed to be a little bit of work, and show some participation. If all you do is take the team numbers and put them up on a website you will not be getting people involved. Having to switch to a team name shows that you are an active member of your team and not just a drone that has been running for the last 5 years.

If you want a race in which no one has to do anything except the captains - that is what it will end up being. A race between the captains to see how many more they can recruit or a few of the players that have the ability to ramp up production.

Most people on the team won't have to notice anything is going on. It will be a blip on the radar, a quick note if they ever check the website. Hmm guess we were racing last month, guess I didn't notice but all my points still counted.

The only way to get the whole team motivated, excited and involved is to show that they are aware of the race and participating.

If everyone on a team is excited, actively having to do something and participating they are more likely to talk to their friends and get them to join in.

A. You should have to change the username. Who knows how many borged zombies exist on some of the bigger teams that are no longer maintained - or even under the users control anymore

Like CoreX5 said, my vote is for A
even with the extra work, it really is the best way to show participation.
