Kernel 3 doesn't fold as fast. Not yet at least. 10.10 vs. 10.04 is a wash, though, if you want LTS. Most opt for 10.10 just because it was the last Kernel 2 release. I tend to opt for 10.04, but that's just me.

I tried to make a Arch linux for folding only but it was a huge failure lol, I want to just have a setup like the one I was using in VMware all you do is start it up and then setup your parameters it loads and folds pure folding in VM no OS or anything now if I could figure out how to do that out of VM then that would be great becasue I think it would increase my Numbers even more.

So i had a power outage mid Project 6903 processing. my TPF was 47min now after restarting the client and the kraken wrapper i'm getting 1hour31min TPF, what gives? my points total estimate went from 277K to 22K..... its sitting at about 59% complete, before the power was cut it had 1 day and some hours left to complete, not were looking at 2days 17hours(I guess my question is, does the tPF fluctuate? and ETA, points etc.....)

The WU may have been borked in the process of power loss.

hmm that sucks. Im pretty sure my whole suite is on one breaker, the one who shall be obeyed turned the stove element(which is weird as the oven should be on a separate breaker) on and bam whole suite went dark(aside from the fridge), all 4 PC's folding went down hard. Im pretty sure it was my power draw that had us on the edge... cant get mad at free power but I screamed every word in the book. MUST GET UPS at least i could have done a safe shut down, or flipped the breaker in time to go uninterrupted....
Thanks John even though its not good news.

The breaker issue is one that plagues me today. Basement apartment.

In order to get my PPD up, I may have to upgrade my dwelling and /or buy a house.

God what I wouldn't do for a nice, cool garage with lots of electrical outlets...

Yeah Ive been dreaming of my own Lab, a basement bedroom converted into a cold room with proper AC and Exhaust.
I guess ill have to wait another 4 days to see if i can grab that 270+K points, going to grab a UPS before my next work unit.

For 'Part Deux' (love the name btw)? I was using this one: Cyberpower CP1000PFCLCD 1000VA 600W PFC UPS AVR GreenPower LCD Pure Sine Wave Output Serial USB - CyberPower - CP1000PFCLCD.

But these would also work: Cyberpower CP1350AVRLCD UPS 1350VA/ 810W AVR 8 Outlet RJ11/RJ45 / Coax Tower LCD Display USB - CyberPower - CP1350AVRLCD and APC BACK-UPS Pro 1000 Power Saving Uninterruptible Power Supply 1000VA 600W - AMERICAN POWER CONVERSION - BR1000G.

Deux pulled about 270w from the wall, giving about 20 minutes runtime until shutdown.

The 1350VA is a good one at that price. All 3 are within your budget.
