Supermicro 3U cases

Is there any team members using or looking for 3U cases?

If you promise to use it to fold for the hardwarecanuck team and you are in the toronto / markham area, I have some I am willing to donate to the cause.. but they must be used for this team.. or karma will come and haunt you!

there is 3 of them.. and they look like these

Supermicro | Products | Chassis | 3U

I would so jump on that offer but I already have 3 comps running in my room and I think the heat would be unbearable in the summer I already have to keep the window open in winter.

To bad way over in Toronto

I actually ran one of these and it was not too bad in terms of heat

the 6 fans create sort of a wind tunnel that draws heat very quickly away from the CPU heatsinks before it gets too high.. so all you get is a lot of slightly warmer air

i got them for my previous business (hosting) and they have like 13 removable drives and triple redundent power supplies :)

Shadowmeph, you can always pay for ground shipping :-P cases themselves are like almost a grand a piece new

Oh man i wish i could get one of these! but shipping would cost an arm and a leg :(

jtktam January 10, 2012 02:58 AM

if you get a freight company it should be too bad.. if you and the other BC guy pick up all three you can split the cost

I just don't have the time / effort and thought it would be a nice donation to this site

If shipping is under $50/person i might be interested, maybe sugarj needs the 3rd one.

I would definitely jump on one of those ... and use it for folding. Unfortunately, unless I'm completely mistaken, I'd have to populate the chassis' with components, and my funds are severly lacking right now, which means they would sit there for an extended period of time before I could utilize them.

I would even drive up there to pick them up.

jtktam January 10, 2012 06:27 AM

it's been sitting with me for a while.. i had 10 of these before and these are the spares (was cheaper to get whole chassis vs. getting spare power supplies, etc)

yes.. these are chassis only.. but they will take any atx / e-atx mobo and most full height boards
