Why would you go with the new dual xeon board? the cost FAR outweighs the performance, even for folding use. For folding, the quad opteron is still going to be king, unless you have boatloads of cash to throw at it (which, there are better ways to spend money on)
You could build two SR2s with dual 6 core CPUs cheap right now for the same price.. if you're using it for rendering. Most reviews even state it would be wiser to grab an LGA2011 and clock the snot out of it for just about everything to match performance of the dual E5 rig

Unless I see something drastic, like price drops or something else - I couldn't recommend the new E5 xeon setup to even the most hardcore of enthusiasts.

Ya. Unless Intel releases some E5 Xeons w/ the bclk unlocked, these dual LGA2011 platforms suck.

Now that 4p Supermicro's can OC with the [H] bios and 12 core chips can be had for reasonable coin on ebay, its not very economical to go for the new dual 2011.

It's funny , I never thought the dual 2011 socket boards would fly.The chips are too $$...

However , as far as a single cpu , multi GPU /windows main rig goes , well , thats why I bought it.

My 3930k does 190% of what a 2600k does , that's all I care about !
