yeah, I really wonder if in the light of the new changes your machine will still be able to finish bigadv- in time, because probably they will not stay at today's size but will increase.

Haha .....not for my q9450.

My production on that chip went from about 5Kppd to about 2.1Kppd , after a switch to Win7.

S'all good tho , that chip's probably tired. It can rest now.

I have not read about any changes in regards to WU sizes, but unless they change the deadlines to something crazy (ex. 2 days for 6904s), then the slowest of the G34s 2p rigs (like mine) should be able to complete WUs in time. At the moment, it's 3.5 days for a 6904.

At least there is some hope there, as I can see that the preferred deadline is 5.6 days and that platform completes it in 3.5 days, yielding after finishing it at around 100K PPD. I guess I should start saving for such a platform :), like Shadowmeph

Charlie: Your 2X 6128 is able to finish a 6904 unit in less than 2 days ? Mine take almost 4 days.

Deadlines are def getting shorter.

Thus, we are shortening the deadlines of the BA projects.

the key determining issue will be making the deadlines (especially since some people often spoof the number of cores the client detects anyway).

How short will they be??? I've seen speculation but nothing from The Man so I don't want to spread rumours. Check out the folding forum thread linked above if you would like to read more. If I hear anything for certain (or anybody else does) can you please post in here, and I would appreciate even a PM.

PG may surprise us again, and unfortunately it my sound like the end of Folding for a lot of us.

Well, if an SR2 is going to struggle to meet bigadv deadlines.. I can most certainly say one of my SR2s in the garage will be re-purposed for something other than folding.

Obviously nobody knows yet what's going to happen regarding deadlines, but I feel confident that an SR-2 will have no trouble whatsoever meeting whatever the new deadlines may be.
